Initial Session
Pigment is placed and shape/color are established. Expect it to look bolder than the final healed result.

Healing (~4–6 Weeks)
Skin naturally turns over, pigment softens, and some areas may heal lighter than others, which is expected.

6–8 Week Touch-Up
Included with every service. We refine shape, even out saturation, and perfect any light spots.

Color Boosts
Pigment fades gradually over time. Most clients return for a refresher approximately every 1.5–3 years to maintain full color and definition.
Fading speed varies significantly by skin type, sun exposure, skincare routine, and lifestyle. The “1.5–3 years” range above is a general guideline, not a guarantee. See my FAQ for more on longevity.
Long-Term Care
Do’s and don’ts for longevity
Once you’re fully healed, these everyday habits make the biggest difference in how long your color and shape stay true.
Do
- Apply a broad-spectrum SPF over the treated area daily, even on cloudy days
- Wear a hat for extended sun exposure, hiking, or beach days
- Keep the surrounding skin moisturized and healthy year-round
- Book your 6–8 week touch-up. Skipping it is the single biggest factor in uneven, faster-fading results
- Return for a color boost on the general 1–2 year timeline before pigment fades completely, rather than after
- Mention any new medications, skincare changes, or upcoming cosmetic procedures at your next appointment
Don’t
- Use Retinol, Retin-A, glycolic acid, or other exfoliating acids directly over the treated area
- Get chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or laser treatments over the treated area without telling your provider it’s tattooed
- Pick, peel, or scratch at any flaking following a touch-up, even if it feels ready
- Assume tanning beds are “safer” than sun exposure. Both accelerate fading
